SMS Consent & Opt-in Evidence

This page documents — publicly and in full — how end users consent to receive SMS messages from CLKUPAPP. It exists so that Twilio and The Campaign Registry (TCR) reviewers can verify our A2P 10DLC opt-in flow without needing access to the CLKUPAPP application, a paid account, or a live phone call.

1. What CLKUPAPP does

CLKUPAPP is a novelty telephony product. A user (the caller) signs in with Google, dials a phone number through our web app, holds a normal voice conversation that is bridged by Twilio, and then taps a physical on-screen "hang-up" button. The recipient hears a dramatic three-part rotary receiver-slam signature (physical slam → hookswitch clunk → dial tone) as the call terminates.

Immediately after the slam sequence, and only during that same live outbound call, the recipient hears a short IVR audio invitation (see Section 2) telling them they can text a keyword to learn who just called them. Nothing is sent to the recipient by SMS unless and until the recipient themselves texts that keyword to our number.

2. The IVR invitation (hear it here)

The following audio file is the actual, unmodified prompt the recipient hears in-call at the end of every CLKUPAPP-terminated call. It is served publicly at this URL and by our TwiML endpoint at /api/voice/audio/ivr_prompt.mp3.

Transcript (verbatim): “You just got CLKUPAPP’d. If you’d like to find out who called you, text the word CLKUP to (941) 213-8525 from this phone. One reply message. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”

3. Full consent sequence, step by step

1. A CLKUPAPP account holder places a normal outbound call to the recipient via our web app. Consent for the phone call itself is not covered by A2P 10DLC — it is a person-to-person voice call delivered by Twilio Voice.
2. At the end of the call, our TwiML plays the audio prompt in Section 2 to the recipient. This is the only place where CLKUPAPP invites the recipient into SMS. There is no other opt-in surface for recipients.
3. No SMS is sent to the recipient at this point. The backend records a short-lived (24-hour) pending_slam_reply row keyed on the recipient's own mobile number, but no message is dispatched.
4. The recipient, from their own phone, texts the word CLKUP to +1 (941) 213-8525. That inbound text is the recipient’s explicit, mobile-originated opt-in. It is stored in our sms_inbound_log and sms_opt_ins collections with the exact keyword, timestamp, and message SID.
5. Only after receiving that inbound “CLKUP” text does CLKUPAPP send a single reply SMS revealing who called (see Section 4). The reply is returned in-band via TwiML on the same round-trip, so the recipient always receives exactly one message per keyword text.
6. The recipient can immediately reply STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE to opt out permanently, or HELP / INFO for support, or START / YES / UNSTOP to re-subscribe. See Section 5.

4. Exact message copy

Below is the verbatim text of every SMS CLKUPAPP will ever send, aligned with the campaign fields opt_in_message, help_message, and opt_out_message.

5. Message frequency, rates, HELP & STOP

• Message frequency: Message frequency varies. A recipient receives at most one message per keyword text they send. Typical volume is 1 message per triggering event.
• Rates: Message and data rates may apply. CLKUPAPP charges no additional fee for the text messages themselves. Standard carrier rates from your mobile plan apply.
• HELP: Reply HELP or INFO at any time for support information — see Section 4 for the exact auto-reply.
• STOP: Reply STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE at any time to opt out permanently. Once opted out, no further messages will be sent unless the recipient replies START, YES, or UNSTOP to re-subscribe.

6. Mobile phone number non-sharing

CLKUPAPP does not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in status, or keyword-response data to any third party for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes. Mobile phone numbers are used solely to route the messages the recipient has consented to receive, and are shared only with Twilio (our SMS delivery provider) as strictly necessary to deliver the message. This non-sharing commitment applies to all mobile-originated opt-in data gathered via CLKUPAPP, including the voice IVR invitation and the inbound text keyword documented on this page. This is also stated in our Privacy Policy, Section 5.
